MOSES, same as Mose, Moshe, Mosheh, Moshei, Mozes, Moise, Moishe, Mosaic, Mohr, Moos, Moosa, Musa, Moore, Mor, meaning Neger, Negru, Negra, Negro and Black. It was the Greeks who changed the original meaning and spelling of Moses.
The Great Jewish historian Flavius Josephus stated, that Moses first married an Ethiopian (African) princess named Tharbis, before he traveled to Midian and met Zipporah (Jewish Antiquities 2. 10-11; and Num. 12:1).*
The Jewish Rabbi Silver says: "movie directors, Sunday school instructors and grandparents can be forgiven if they view Moses to have been white complected, however, world scholars should know better, because Moses' culture and lineage suggested him to be dark."
The name Moses itself is Egyptian, and was not used in the Hebrew vocabulary until the presence of Moses (Ex. 4:6-7). 305
*Ethiopia means Black, Black face or Negro. |
